About Printmaking

The world of contemporary printmaking encompasses a vast diversity of mediums and styles. At Watermark Workshop, we'll be working with two different kinds: dry point intaglio and relief printing. Dry point Intaglio printmaking is done by engraving images into plexiglass, while relief printing involves cutting away an image from linoleum or wood. After you have created your image in these materials, simply apply ink and send it through the press! To see contemporary innovators in printmaking, you can start with these artists: Christian Baumgardner, Georg Baselitz, Kiki Smith, David Hockney and Catherine Kernan!

Who's in charge of all this?
Eleanor Larsen is an interdisciplinary artists who attended the Art Institute of Chicago and Berklee College of Music to develop an expressive, synesthetic fusion. She's currently based out of Boston, but has been returning to her native Portland since 2015 to bring the art of printmaking to our students, workers, drifters, families, and friends of the City of Roses. Eleanor has experience teaching a variety of age groups and subjects including printmaking as well as songwriting, vocal technique, musical theater and English.
